Goldman, Edwin Franko (1 January 1878 - 21 February 1956)
Once a pupil of Dvorak, Goldman composed over one hundred musical works and in 1918 inaugurated a series of public outdoor concerts. His son, Richard, succeeded him as leader of the Goldman Band, which was well-known for its free performances in New York City’s Central Park.
In the 1950s, Goldman was on the advisory board of Charles Francis Potter’s First Humanist Society of New York.
Goldman died at Montefiore Hospital in New York. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
