Eric Zorn (6 January 1958 - )

Zorn, who was born in New Haven, Connecticut, is the son of Jens C. Zorn and Frances B. Zorn, both of whom teach at the University of Michigan. In 1980, he graduated from the University of Michigan, where he majored in creative writing and English literature - there, he was an editor of the Michigan Daily.

He is the grandson of mathematician Max Zorn and of Indiana historian John D. Barnhart].

After having worked as an intern at he Miami Herald, he was employed by the Chicago Tribune commencing in 1980. His 1986 column "Hometowns" evolved into a news/commentary.

Zorn is co-author of Murder of Innocence (1990).

Asked if he was an agnostic or atheist, he responded, "I describe myself as an indifferent agnostic. I don't know if God exists and I don't care."

His wife, Johanna, is an executive producer at WBEZ-FM, Chicago's public radio station. They have three children and live on Chicago's Northwest Side.
